INTRODUCTION
The Department of Languages was gazetted by the Public Services Department (JPA) in 2000. This department was formerly known as the department of English Language. It was later renamed the English Language unit which is a part of the language department: the other two being the Chinese and Tamil Units, being placed under Department of Languages. However, IPSMB has only the English Language Unit
At present, the department consists of 11 lecturers including the Head of Department. Throughout 2007 this department has trained 3 KPLI units; 1 of English Major and 2 of Minor, 5 units of PPISMP Sem 3 and 6 of Sem 1 , 2 units of KDPM Pre-School and 5 units of the PET Program. The department has also trained in-service courses for trained teachers i.e 6-week English Conversion Course and the 14-week in-service OUM program : 5 units of the March intake and 3 units of the June intake of which takes up more than 147 interaction hours per week.

OBJECTIVES
To produce trainee teachers who are:
1 Competent in English Language during the study and the practicum;
2 Able to interact and communicate in English confidently;
3 Able to enhance the knowledge in English Language through various sources;
4 Able to enhance their application of English Language via various curriculum and co-curriculum activities;
